History

Rincon is regarded as Bonaire’s oldest continuously inhabited settlement and dates from the Spanish period. Sheltered in a valley, the village developed its own farming and livestock traditions. Historic fields, roads and water places around Rincon form an important cultural landscape. Rincon is also a centre of Bonairean festivals and traditions.

Character and living

The pace is quieter and the distance to Kralendijk and the airport is greater. Local services are available, but residents generally travel south for a wider range. Rincon appeals especially to those who value village culture and the northern natural landscape.
